Receiving a garbled Time-Space distress call, the Doctor returns to Earth, in 1986 - but all is not as it should be! The Doctor and Ria find themselves in peril on a Moon base which should not exist, and in a version of November 5th 1605 which is all wrong.

SECOND SOLUTION

On the evening of November fifth, 1605, Guido Fawkes, an ex-mercenary soldier believed twelve years absent from England was discovered in the cellars beneath the House of Lords, giving light to sufficent stocks of gunpowder to destroy the building and take the life of King James the First of England. Guy Fawkes was tortured to death to exact a confession for his part in the infamous "Gunpowder Plot."

The remaining plotters; Robert Catesby, Thomas Percy, John and Christopher Wright, Robert and Thomas Winter and Robert Bates were all caught and publicly executed for treason against the state during the following year.

So ended the Gunpowder Plot of 1605.

But what if..... (original sleeve notes, 1986)

Justyce

The events in this story form the basis of the 'Justyce' stories in the fourth season of audio plays.

PRODUCTION NOTES

As is often the case in AV productions, background vocal effects for this story were recorded by the cast during one of the recording sessions.

When the King's men catch up with the conspirators, angry cries of battle were required. Nobody seems to remember whether or not the cast's efforts for this made it into the final recording, but a good time was certainly had by all.

Nabil Shaban

In particular, Nabil Shaban (guest starring as Bates and Sir Knevet) certainly entered into the spirit of things. Screaming and shouting at the top of his voice, he even provided realistic sound effects by dismantling most of his wheelchair and bashing the metal parts together.

He was so caught up in his antics that he missed the cry of 'Cut!' from the director, only giving up his 'battle' when he realized he was the only one left fighting it!
